Things to do around here:
There are a couple of bars, grocery stores, coffee shops, and pizza and restaurants all within 10 minutes walking distance.
Buses (both lines are only 2 minutes walking from the house)
Bus 75 - goes to Hollywood Transit Center where you can take the MAX or other buses to get to the city center or around town.
Bus 17 - goes directly to downtown (30 minutes) and to NW
Other things to know about Portland:
- We have a lot of: beer, coffee, bikes (and oddly enough, strip clubs)
- Portland is pretty easy to navigate once you figure out that it's divided into quadrants (North and South are divided by Burnside, and East and West are divided the Willamette River). Street numbers get larger the further away you get from the center of the city.
- There are a LOT of cute smaller neighborhoods outside of the city center to walk around, eat, drink and be merry in.
- Have some tots at a restaurant (tater tots - fried pieces of shredded potato) ...it's one very Portland-ish thing I noticed when I first moved here
